Planting eco-cards as commitment for the development of Social Entrepreneurship

The final event of the project “SEED – Project for Development of Education for Social Entrepreneurship” was held on May 6 in the high school “Rade Jovcevski-Korcagin” – Skopje. At the event, high school students and teachers from Macedonia, Lithuania and Croatia planted eco-cards from which  flowers grow. Through the gesture of joint planting, the symbolics was shares- Social Entrepreneurship is a seed that should  grow and be nurtured, for the society to see the fruits of the economy of solidarity faster.

Supporters of social entrepreneurship also addressed the event: Barbara Sadovska – team leader of the EU project “Support to Social Enterprises”, Marko Gjorgievski – Director of the National Agency for European Educational Programs and Mobility, which is also a donor of the project, Dragan Arsovski – Director of “Rade Jovcevski-Korcagin” and Irina Janevska from the organization coordinator of the project – ARNO. In addition to planting the cards, the students organized mini creative workshops, and the magician Kristian Shopov performed a magical eco-performance and told the students that he was once a student at the school, and today is a successful social entrepreneur.

“This project has a very symbolic name and was implemented at a time when everyone was reminded how important is humanity, caring for one another, solidarity between people. We are happy that the last event and training was not held in virtual mode, the participants and local supporters were physically here. That means a lot to us. It is true that these are just seeds, but after a few years we will see what it means to bring a new business model to the classroom. ARNO has been collaborating with partner schools for several years because we see students who are committed to running virtual social enterprises and are eager to make a difference in their communities. What we sow, it will sprout (local saying). Let the fruits be-the young people who will run businesses that are good for the nature and for the people” stated Irina Janevska from ARNO

“I feel excited because with this event and this project we show all schools that if there is a desire and motivation, the first step can be taken- to do something different from the mainstream environment. Social enterprises, and at the same time, this event, are a great example to convey our idea and our thoughts on the sustainability of societies. We must think of a future in which there will be resources for all, and no one will be left behind” – stated Marija Kolevska, a student from “Rade Jovcevski-Korcagin” – Skopje.

“Through the S.E.E.D project, I personally developed a lot of skills, starting from the first introduction to the term social enterprise, to developing communication skills through the ability to work with peers from different countries. Through the fundraising campaigns that were part of the project, I was able to step out of my comfort zone, broaden my horizons and take a more open approach to things,” said Auguste Motekaiti, a student at Radvilishki Lizdeikos Gymnasium in Lithuania.

The SEED project is designed to enable students to become future Social Entrepreneurs.  The main goal of the SEED project is to bring entrepreneurship education closer to students by offering knowledge and skills for the new business model of social enterprises as part of the school subject “Entrepreneurship”, which is taught in the 3 partner schools (Croatia, Lithuania , North Macedonia). The project is coordinated by the Organization for Social Innovation “ARNO” in partnership with schools from the three countries and the civil society organization “GoGreen Belgium” from Belgium, and it is funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus + program.
