North Macedonia joins the largest European survey on social enterprises.

ARNO calls on social enterprises from North Macedonia to complete the most important European survey on social entrepreneurship, the “European Social Enterprise Monitor,” which is currently being conducted and is available at the following link.

“ARNO has taken on this endeavor so that North Macedonia is represented on the map and so that we can gather data that will guide us in the future—where to focus more and what kind of support is needed. We invite everyone who has been part of our programs, as well as anyone who considers themselves a social enterprise—regardless of whether they are an CSO with economic activities, a cooperative, artisans, individual farmers, or a company that reinvests its profits. All those who generate profit while also pursuing a social mission, or engage in work integration (employing people with fewer opportunities), are encouraged to complete the survey. Additionally, all respondents will have the opportunity to create a free public profile on the Good Market platform, share their posts, and access services and certification opportunities,” said Irina Janevska from ARNO.

The survey is short and easy to complete, taking approximately 15 minutes. Please note the following:

  • To access the survey, you must enter an email address where you will receive a verification link. You can only proceed after verifying your email.
  • To select North Macedonia, you must choose “Southern Europe.”
  • The survey consists of 5 sections. For some of them, you will need (approximate) data—such as the number of employees, annual turnover, and sectors of activity. Additional explanations are provided under the green question marks. Do not be too strict or limited in your answers—multiple options are allowed, and you can freely select related options or add your own under “Other.”
  • There are questions about income and the number of employees in the previous fiscal year. In North Macedonia, the fiscal year runs from January 1 to December 31.
  • After completing all five sections, select “Submit” to successfully finalize the survey.
  • For additional questions or assistance, call +389 77 855 832.

The “European Social Enterprise Monitor” is the largest study of social enterprises in Europe, bringing together more than 40 countries to highlight the contribution that social enterprises make to European society and the economy. This is the fourth edition of the Monitor. In the previous edition, over 2,000 social entrepreneurs shared their experiences, and their voices have already influenced governments, educators, and policymakers across Europe. The data collected will be presented in a comparative European report, as well as in detailed national and thematic reports.

“Through the project ‘Invest in Change,’ ARNO has the opportunity to closely follow trends in social and impact entrepreneurship. Increasingly, there is more discussion about investments and credit lines, and less about grants. This is a great exercise to map out who we are, how many we are, and where we stand in North Macedonia, so we can better understand what comes next. We joined this process pro bono, out of a genuine desire both to gather data and to ensure that Macedonian entities are visible on the platform. Help us place Macedonian social enterprises on the map and pave the way toward an economy where people and the planet come first!” ARNO representatives stated.

The “Investin Change” project is a pioneering initiative funded by the European Union. Its goal is to develop a more enabling environment for social entrepreneurship in the Western Balkans by improving access to finance, engaging relevant stakeholders and investors, and advancing policies in this field. The project is coordinated by Impact Europe and implemented in partnership with ARNO (North Macedonia), Partners Albania (Albania), Smart Kolektiv (Serbia), Foundation 787 (Bosnia and Herzegovina), ADP-Zid (Montenegro), and ICK (Kosovo).
