UNFPA Implementing Partner

In 2017, ARNO became a partner for the Implementation of Activities within the youth component of the Annual Work Plan of the National Office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Within the framework of this partnership, in cooperation with the Youth Network of Civil Society Organizations Y-PEER Macedonia, numerous activities were implemented. This included a series of workshops for strengthening the capacities of the youth and building their advocacy skills, knowledge on the post-2015 process, the conference “Youth, Peace and Security” and the campaign “Men Can Do It, Too “.

In the final phase of the project, consultants were engaged for the preparation of a document- Situational Analysis “Introduction of Formal Comprehensive Sexual Education in the Republic of Macedonia: Challenges and Opportunities”. After the drafting of the document, in order to open a national discussion and finalize the document, a stakeholder meeting was organized.

Highlights: The National conference was opened by Ms. Radmila Shekerinska, Vice-Premier of the Government and Minister of Defense (at that time), with an inspirational speech on peace building and sustainable development goals. In her address to the young participants, she articulated her personal and professional perspective on peace, security and the role of young people. The Conference highpoints were put on the UNSCR 2250, the first resolution (adopted 2015) entirely dedicated to recognizing the importance of engaging young women and men in shaping and sustaining peace.
